3. What will the lock protect?
Noble locks help to protect the entire system against theft. The computer, memory, monitor, mouse and keyboard are all guarded against theft with these locks.
4. Can I get my locks Master-Keyed?
Yes, Master-Keyed locks are available. There are three keying options:
A. All locks work with one key (Keyed Alike).
B. All locks work with a different key but a universal key is available to open any lock (Master Keyed).
C. All locks work with a different key with no universal key available (Keyed Different).
5. Can I get more information regarding my keying options?
Noble offers Dell customers the flexibility to determine how keys should be assigned to the locks used by their organizations and provides various levels of access to the locked equipment.
Three custom-keyed solutions are offered:
 |
KEYED ALIKE - One key to fit all the locks purchased. Preferred method for desktop locks. Under a Keyed Alike system, all the locks are keyed the same; thus, any key will open any lock. After the security packages are installed, a supervisor, manager, IT person (not the end user) keeps as many keys as needed. The task of managing the keys is much simpler if all the keys are the same. |
 |
MASTER KEYED - Unique locks and keys with the purchase. Plus, a Master Key that can open all the locks in the order. Under a Master Keyed system, each lock is keyed differently from the others. A Master Key or Keys are purchased with the order for the designated supervisor/s. The Master Key is capable of unlocking any of the locks. This option should be used when the end user retains the keys or for maximum security to simplify key management and administration. In the event that an end user loses his/her keys, a supervisor can unlock the lock with the Master Key. |
 |
KEYED DIFFERENT - Unique locks and keys with the purchase. Under a Keyed Differently system, customers can order a unique key for each lock. This option is used if the customer does not need a key recovery system. |
REORDERS WITH THE SAME KEY SYSTEM - No Problem! You simply reference the key code to your DellTM Sales representative on subsequent key orders. Your master key or keyed alike key has a unique code stamped onto the face of the key.
ONE KEY TO OPEN DIFFERENT TYPES OF LOCK PRODUCTS? Simply tell your DellTM sales representative before the initial order that you need one key for the various security products. On reorders you simply give the key code for each different Security lock type. Master keys can be ordered and shipped separately from the master keyed order.

Most desktop users choose the first option, where a supervisor or IT director will hold the keys.
The second option is used only when each individual user needs to have a key to his/her lock.
The third option is rarely used, only in cases where individuals need access to their own locks and no back-up key is required.
For Desktop security, Keyed-Alike is the best key management system.
(NOTE: Keyed-Alike is sometimes mistakenly referred to as Master-Keyed).
6. What do I do if I lose my keys?
We recommend that you take note of the number stamped into your key when you receive your order. Simply call us with the key number and we can ship you replacement keys.

7. How difficult are these locks to install?
Noble locks use no adhesives - they are a completely "plug-and-play" security solution. Installation usually only takes a couple of minutes.
8. How easy is the security cable to cut?
All of the Noble locks cables are 8mm thick and made of steel. These cables are very difficult to cut. Even if someone does manage to cut through a cable, the lock is still attached to the computer so the thief will need to break the computer in order to remove the lock - rendering the resale value of the machine very low and discouraging continued theft.
9. How many different key numbers do you have?
More than 10,000 different key numbers are available.
